Turn a color PDF into grayscale or pure black and white before you print it. Color pages burn through expensive ink even when the color adds nothing, which is why handouts, contracts, forms, and internal reports are usually better off in monochrome. Frequently asked questions
- Can I still select the text after converting?
- No. Every page is redrawn as an image and reassembled into a new PDF, so the text becomes part of that image. That's the tradeoff for a page that prints exactly the same everywhere. If you need selectable text, keep the original alongside the grayscale copy.
- Do my files get uploaded?
- No. Everything runs locally in your browser and the file never leaves your device. You can confirm it yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and process a file. You won't see your PDF go anywhere.
- What's the difference between grayscale and pure black and white?
- Grayscale keeps the shades between black and white, so photographs and shaded charts stay readable. Pure black and white (thresholding) allows only two values, which produces the smallest file and the cheapest print, but fine detail and soft gradients disappear.
- Are there usage or file-size limits?
