This tool targets the usual culprit — pages heavy with scanned images and photos — and gets file sizes down dramatically. Compression happens in your browser, so the document is never uploaded to a server.
Three steps: drop the PDF in, choose a quality level between 30% and 90%, then process and download. Each page is rendered and re-encoded as an image at your chosen quality, which is why the size reduction is so large. The honest tradeoff: the result is a raster PDF, so text becomes part of the image and is no longer selectable or searchable. That's fine for a document meant to be read or printed, and wrong for one someone needs to copy text out of. Drag in multiple PDFs and they're processed one by one and packaged as a zip.

- Is the text still selectable after compressing?
- No. Compression rasterizes every page into an image before rebuilding the PDF, so text becomes pixels. If you need searchable text, this isn't the right tool — but if you just need the file small enough to send, the size savings are substantial.
- What quality setting should I use?
- 60–75% is the usual sweet spot: hard to tell apart on screen, much smaller on disk. Go lower if you're purely trying to clear an upload limit. For documents with photographs, avoid dropping below 50%, where artifacts start to show.
- Do my files get uploaded?
- No. Compression runs locally in your browser and the file never leaves your device.
- Are there usage or file-size limits?
- Runs are unlimited. Files can be up to 50 MB, and batch tools accept up to 50 files at once.
